About Youth Watching LLC
Our Experience
We are a diverse group of educators with decades of experience in the public and private sectors who believe in partnering with organizations to execute district and county-wide objectives. Our objective is to use a team approach to maximize team cohesion and promote increased outcomes for adolescents aged 7-21.
Our Approach
The framework of positive youth development (PYD) has multiple theories. The evidence-based practice for research includes Bronfenbrenner’s (1979) Ecology of Human Development, the Developmental Assets, and the Positive Youth Development model, which builds on Lerner’s 5Cs: competence, confidence, connection, caring and character. Bronfenbrenner’s human development theory emphasized continuous parental involvement and support of adolescents at various stages of their development, and EHD was later defined to describe the living experiences of adolescent youth. Until the early 1990s, the most frequent approach used to assess youth development was to identify problems among youth and then trying to prevent them (Scales, 2012). Developmental Assets are defined as essential traits for positive outcomes for adolescents. Lastly, the 5Cs (competence, confidence, connection, caring, and character) form the PYD models, which highlight the strengths of adolescents. This research contends that if properly nurtured, adolescents would be better prepared for successful adulthood transitions.
